Warwick Avenue

Hello all! I cannot get enough of Duffy at the moment. This outfit is wholly inspired by her style from her 2009 album "Warwick Avenue". Everything except the umbrella and belt was thrifted. Funny story! The skirt worn in this post is actually the first skirt I ever wore/posted on my blog/lookbook in 2010. Oh, how I have changed since then. To be honest it feels like 50 years ago. Today has been quite rough for me. I have been feeling extremely weak and tired. I was suffering from migraines all day long and finally took a nap. I started feeling a lot better after that. Then, I had some dinner and found the energy to actually do my eye make up and at least look better than I feel. It seems like it worked. I felt better afterwards. :D I went for a smoky eye and some mascara no liner with a bold Russian Red lip by MAC. Hope you lovelies are having a good first day of the week.

OUTFIT DETAILS:
Striped Top: Thrifted(H81 @F21)
Vintage MIDI Circle Skirt: Thrifted(old)
Bow Belt:  Ruche
Studded Heels: Thrifted

See how I wore it then.
And here's how I wore it today.

Style Remix: Final Fall Transition

Happy Wednesday Readers! So we all know that before we know it summer will be far behind us and fall will be in full swing. But this season it seems like summer is trying to hold on for a while longer. (some places more than others) What do you do? We are all excited for fall layers and colors but the season's not quite here yet. In this final transition to your fall wardrobe, there are a few key summer pieces you may want to stick around, but how do you get away with wearing it during the fall? Well here's news to you! You don't have to pack up every summer item just yet. Chambray is one of the most season friendly pieces a girl can have. Whether its a dress or a buttoned down, you can always bet on chambray to save the day.

Here's how to make it work.
This plaid chambray dress is adorable for summer time and is great when paired with a pop-color flat or white. But, you can also "fall it down" by pairing it with a light knit cardigan with an autumn tone to it. (i.e. Burnt orange, deep purple, mustard, navy, or another neutral color.) Add some tights.(Patchwork tights, or an opaque bold color like burgundy, brown or my periwinkle colored tights.) The shoes are really up to you but stick with darker neutrals and play with your options. Ankle boots, brouges with knee highs, or pumps would look great. I paired my chambray outfit with grey vintage Mary Jane pumps I found while thrift during the summer. It sets a scholastic tone with the change in the seasons and gets you pumped for those cooler days to come. My updo was inspired by a tutorial I found on pinterest. Its super easy, really comfy and added a vintage feel to my look. I hope this helps you find a medium between the seasons. What summer pieces do you love that you can't seem to part with?

Outfit Details:

Gingham Plaid Chambray Dress: Paper Crane via Plato's Closet
Periwinkle Patchwork Tights: JcPenney
Vintage Mary Jane Pumps: Thrifted
Squirrel Necklace: Handmade
(The item I am holding in my hand is a photo album I found while thrifting. I think I will be printing some photos for it soon.)

Plato's Closet: Style Remix

Hello! Today is my second week of Style Remix Wednesday. This outfit was chosen because I have worn this dress a bunch of times and did not know what to do with it. Truly it is more so one of my fall pieces because it is easier to layer in the cooler months. But since I am wearing my end of summer and pre-fall items I figured why not do a fall preview. They last time I wore this I wore opaque green tights with brown lace up boots, cardigan, a scarf and a knitted hat. This time around I chose to pair it with a sequined blouse worn beneath the dress with T-strap Mary Jane pumps for a more vintage feel. I feel that when wearing a classic vintage inspired ensemble, less is more. When accessorizing go for the bare minimum. Some rings and things, a small necklace or a head scarf(which I chose not to wear because I wanted to show off my faux beehive). Here are details from the rest of my outfit.

Outfit Details:
Salmon Chevron Rounded Collared Dress: Plato's Closet Greenway
Sequin Collared Blouse: Rue21
Squirrel Necklace: Handmade
T-Strap Mary Jane Pump: Mia Shoes via Plato's Closet Memorial City
Love Punch Belt: Thrifted
Rings and Things: Shasa
All Day Disco Sunnies: ModCloth

I also was lucky enough to plan out my day to capture the best lighting during the magic hour. To be honest my photo shoots with Dan are getting better and better every time we go out to shoot. I am so glad he is learning so quickly. As I am learning so many new things about the wonders of photoshop filters and text within frame. I feel like my work is becoming more professional and for that I am proud of my progress thus far. I can wait to dive in this semester with Illustrator and such. Here are the close up details of my outfit.

Massive Vintage Haul Overload & Purchases from Chicago

Sorry for the delay! Alas! Here are all my items purchased in the past week. This first batch of photos are all of my purchases in from before and while I was on vacation. But its gets even better! *Drum roll*

VINTAGE!VINTAGE!VINTAGE!

Tada! All new wonderful and insanely vintage items! I went out with my Boyfriend's mother and sister and we found a ton of things while thifting. Not to mention this last Friday I went back and found those lovely lavender loafers, the bamboo printed blouse, Betsey Johnson inspired dress, and loads more. I am finally content with my clothing collection(for myself that is) and now I can focus on my items for sale! Speaking of items for sale I will be posting more shoes and dresses for sale on my Ebay. So look out for that.
This afternoon was lovely and my darling was kind enough to cook me dinner again! This time from scratch and with a recipe book. I am soo proud of him. He's been cooking and cleaning and doing laundry and not leaving things on the floor or around. I don't know what's gotten into him but I LIKE IT! And of course I love him. So in closing I had a bad ass week/weekend and will be back to the daily grind this week. Until we meet again!
